We do that with our kids and for some reason it has worked and they have allowed us to get rid of old toys they no longer play with regardless of how much they seem to love them. I try throwing things away sometimes, but he knows when one thing is gone. Sometime he cares, sometimes he doesn't, but when he does care he gets so upset and looks up at me with those big blue eyes and cries. Things have been very emotional to him since the baby came and I hate to seem him like that. He's so good to the baby, but then gets so crazy around me.
